Video from a recent Japan trip; these guys were part of an after comp guest performance set. Two solos and a sychronized set that is pretty much mind bogglingly well accomplished. Tons of body work; including some "jaw-popping". They were the highlight of the show.

História do House

Existe muito preconceito que cerca o house dance e house music através dos anos. O preconceito evoluiu devido a uma falta de compreensão e do acesso aos elementos básicos que criaram a essência do house. Há freqüentemente confusão com os elementos de outras danças ou culturas que têm atributos similares, mas a história é muito diferente. House é relacionado a muitos outros estilos, mas não necessariamente um descendente direto, por isso a diferenciação é fundamental.
House não é um descendente do hip hop. É relacionada pelo estilo musical do início dos anos 80. Muitos dançarinos do hip hop tinham acesso ao house durante os anos 80 e 90 trazendo com eles a habilidade de executar suas seqüências e ritmos mais usados. A tradição do hip hop (isto é, batalhas, vestimentas e linguagem) influenciou um período da história do House que atinge o dia de hoje.
Antes desse tempo, o House foi tocado geralmente em clubes e casas gays। A influência latina de alguns dos movimentos é devido a sincronia da música do início dos anos 90. Um exemplo verdadeiro da fusão das duas culturas é a dança "Webo". A dança Webo fez uma parte no movimento house, devido à mistura e junção que foi feita para receber a música nos clubes latinos. O Webo não é Salsa ou Tango, porque eram danças de épocas diferentes, e eram parciais às influências cultural.

História do Locking

Locking (originalmente conhecido como Campbellocking) é considerado um estilo de funk। Trata-se de um rápido e preciso movimento de braços e mãos combinados com quadris e pernas. Os movimentos são geralmente amplos e exagerados e freqüentemente rítmico e firme (compacto) com a música. Locking é uma performance executada rapidamente, sempre interagindo com o público através de sorrisos ou dando-lhes alguns movimentos naturalmente cômicos.

Locking foi originalmente dançado para o funk tradicional, assim como James Brown। O funk é comum ainda para os dançarinos de locking, e usados em muitas competições.

O nome é baseado na concepção dos movimentos do locking, que basicamente significa congelar através de movimentos rápidos e parar em certas posições e depois continuar rápido como antes। Esses movimentos criam um forte contraste a fim de que muitos movimentos rápidos que são, por outro lado, executados continuamente precisos, combinam com gestos (mímicas) ensaiados, e atuando para o público e para outros dançarinos. Locking exige muitas acrobacias e movimentos bem elaborados, assim como “travar” os joelhos dando a impressão de “ruptura”. Esses movimentos também requerem joelheiras ou algum outro protetor.

Um locker é um dançarino de locking। Lockers normalmente usam um estilo de roupa característico, assim como roupas coloridas com listas e suspensórios.

O início do Locking pode ter sido descoberto por um homem em particular, Don Campbell। Depois dos anos 60 ele misturou algumas danças passageiras (que eram moda), adicionando movimentos próprios (conhecidos como “Trava” - Lock). O resultado da dança foi chamado de Campbellocking, que foi mais tarde conhecido como Locking. No início dos anos 70 surgiram os grupos de dança de Locking. O mais notável foi quando Campbell formou o grupo de dança “The Lockers” e firmou a fundação de locking e dos estilos de roupas.

Mais tarde, o locking tornou-se parte do crescimento da cultura da dança hip hop, e teve influência aos mais recentes estilos, como popping and breaking. Locking é ainda totalmente popular e muitos artistas atuais executam movimentos derivados do locking em seus videoclips.
Locking é uma dança que surgiu nas antigas discotecas dos anos 70। Pode ter ocorrido individualmente ou em harmonia com 2 ou mais dançarinos fazendo steps ou handshakes juntos. O locker pode sorrir enquanto faz sua apresentação, em outros momentos, um comportamento sério deve ser preservado para dar ênfase na técnica. Outro importante estilo característico é a “explosão” (vibração) dos braços, paradas, posição e firmeza dos passos e movimento (giro) da boina ou chapéu. Don Campbell foi o inventor dos freezes originais. Em 1971, quando nomeou-se por “travas” (locks), ele incorporou seu ritmo único e adicionou gestos, assim como apontar e bater palmas. Outros dançarinos também adaptaram-se a este estilo, enquanto juntavam alguns dos passos e movimentos listados a seguir: Alphas (Criado por Alpha Anderson), The Skeeterrabbit (Criado por James "Skeeter Rabbit" Higgins), Stop n Go (Criado por Greg "Campbellock Jr." Pope), Scooby doo (Criado por Jimmy "Scooby doo" Foster), Which a way (Criado por Leo Williamson).

História do B-Boy

Muitos dizem que o termo hip-hop foi criado em meados de 1968 por frika Bambaataa। Ele teria se inspirado em dois movimentos cíclicos, um deles estava na forma de transmitir a cultura dos guetos americanos, a outra estava justamente na forma de dança popular na época, que era saltar (hop) movimentando os quadris (hip).

Em meados dos anos 70 no Bronx, cidade de New York, foi criado o B-Boying. O responsável por isso foi o Dj Kool Herc, que foi o maior de todos os Djs do Bronx.
A expressão B-Boying provavelmente originou-se da palavra africana “Boioing”, que significa “salto, pulo”, e foi usada na área do Rio Bronx (NYC) para descrever o estilo do salto que os B-Boys faziam।

B-Boying (que também significa Breaking) não deveria ser confundido com Popping e Locking, porque esses estilos da dança têm seus próprios termos, histórias e seus pioneiros।

Nos primeiros estágios esta dança era praticada “para cima, no alto”, o que é conhecido por “top rocking”। A estrutura e a forma do Top Rocking tiveram influência dos que praticavam a dança no Brooklyn, influência da salsa (como o rock latino), da dança afro-cubana, africana e americana. Há também um passo de top rock, criado por Charleston, chamado “Charlie Rock”. Outra principal influência e inspiração foi James Brow com seus hits "Popcorn" (1969) e "Get on the Good Foot" (1972). Inspirados por sua dança energética e quase acrobática as pessoas começaram a dançar “Good Foot”.

Assim que a tradição da batalha da dança ficou bem estabelecida nessa época, e como o Breaking começou também a se incorporar na cultura hip hop, tornou-se mais e mais uma dança que envolve o b-boy usando sua imaginação। Em conseqüência disso os “top rockers” estenderam seus repertórios através do footwork e freezes.

Os freezes eram usualmente usados no final de cada série de combinações ou para zoar e humilhar o oponente। Certos freezes eram também denominados como o segundo mais popular: “chair freeze” e “baby freeze“. O “chair freeze” foi fundamental para vários movimentos por causa do potencial que os b-boys precisavam ter para exercer este movimento.O objetivo principal de uma batalha de break é vencer o oponente sendo mais criativo com séries de freezes e fazer movimentos mais rápidos e melhores. Isso também porque as crews desenvolvem seus movimentos e séries dando personalidade à dança para estarem preparados para a próxima batalha.

Origem do nome B-बॉय

B-Boy = Abreviação para “Break Boy”, “Beat Boy” ou “Bronx Boy”.
A palavra B-Boy foi primeiramente usada pelo DJ jamaicano radicado nos Estados Unidos, Kool Herc. Ele deu esse nome a todos os dançarinos do início dos anos 70, e “B-Boy” passou a ser uma designação a um grupo de elite de dançarinos que participavam nas festas organizadas por ele.
B-Boying é o estilo de dança dos B-Boys, também conhecido como Breakin’।

A mídia propôs um conceito errado sobre Breaking: o conceito de que a dança era usada pelas gangues, que dançavam ao invés de brigarem। Porém, isso não é verdade, pois nos rachas (battles) de Breakin havia tumulto e aconteciam várias brigas por causa dessas batalhas de B-Boys.
